In Distance There is Nature

Monte Residencia, Argentina • 2024

Live performance in stereo, 45min

For a long time, we believed that nature represented the ultimate reality. Today, however, we are increasingly turning away from nature, constructing a new reality rooted in the artificial. In other words, imagination has become the new reality.

The concept of a landscape where fleshly bodies, plants, and electrical devices converge to form complex, hybrid structures lies at the core of In Distance There is Nature. This work captures the intricate and expansive network of sounds from the forests of the Chaco Province in Argentina. During the audio recording process—where sounds are transformed, distorted, and modified through technology—technology emerges not only as a tool for accessing these ambient radiances but also as a source of new, potentially disruptive sonic forms.

In Distance There is Nature invites audiences to experience the unique soundscape of these forests, showcasing one of the world’s most acoustically distinctive treasures. Through a creative process culminating in a performance piece—first presented at the Fundación Andreani in Buenos Aires in 2024 —the project fosters a critical exploration of humanity’s impact on this fragile and rapidly transforming environment.
